Shortlist for Professional Awards Showcases the Best of Asian Talent in the UK

Winners will be announced on evening of 27th November

The much anticipated shortlist for the inaugural Asian Professional Awards (APA) has  been released. The APA has captured the imagination of the British Asian public as an impressive 4,000 Nominations and Votes were made over the course of 3 months. The variety of the Award categories, which range from Banking to Media and from Finance through to Public Service, aims to showcase the best of talent from each of those professions.

The APA has been endorsed by numerous leading politicians and professionals in the UK. David Cameron said “Whether it’s in the court room, the newsroom or the classroom, Asian men and women are not only providing expert services, skills and capabilities; they are delivering for Britain too.” Ed Miliband has commented on the importance of the APA, stating that “The younger generation will look at the success of the nominees and winners, and I hope that they will be able to seek inspiration.”

Harry Virdee, one of the Directors of the APA, said “We have been overwhelmed by the number of people who have been nominated and voted for nominees during the last few months, and it shows just how much these Awards are needed. The APA is our way of helping to create a new generation of role models for the Asian community in Britain, people that the youth of today can look up to and aspire to be in years to come.”

The Asian Professional Awards will be taking place at the Emirates Stadium in North London on 27th November 2014 and will be hosted by the award-winning broadcaster and DJ Bobby Friction.
