Previously was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley on a very profitable desk trading Pan European Stocks. • Aside from primary role, created a number of quantitative trading models and traded on a proprietary and facilitatory basis in a disciplined manner – total PnL $1.7m in 2008; $1m in 2009, $6m in 2010 (contributor to PnL, including index rebalance trading); $4m in 2011;$5m in 2012;$16m in 2013; $12m till June 2014.
Was one of the largest proprietary traders on the trading floor at the time and ran a large trading book.
Left the world of banking to begin his own venture, creating muzmatch - an app for Muslims world-wide seeking marriage. Aiming to be completely different to the traditional websites out there - this app brings Muslim Marriage to your smartphone in a revolutionary way.
Now in my role as CEO of muzmatch, my role has changed drastically - from helping run a profitable desk to starting my own business from scratch. This involved learning all the technology myself first hand and then building it from scratch - ie building both the apple and android apps and the entire infrastructure myself.
Over and above this I have helped mentor and advise other startups.
Whilst at Morgan Stanley I led the Muslim Network there for over five years - taking care of their Muslim needs eg place to pray/Ramadan/Eid as well as working with other Islamic Societies across the banks to benefit each other and do more good for charity. This helped lead to the formation of what is now known as the Cube Network (http://cubenetwork.org/). Through some of the early events we held we raised over £100,000.
In the media:
Muzmatch as an app and business has featured in many publications including Vice and The Mirror. I am due to be interviewed on the Islam Channel, and the BBC are due to do a feature on the new landscape of Muslim "dating".
