Additional Contributions:

The opening line on my memoirs will one day read......Yorkshire born and bred, who at the age of 12, was career labelled by her mother as the Lawyer in the family.

I am one of five siblings who was under no illusions as to what I and my siblings had to achieve in life. My father is a very humble man, and sacrificed his passion for Urdu literature to ensure me and siblings did well in life. My father did not have the opportunity to attend college and attain a university education nor did my mother. To realise their own dreams my parents devoted their life to their children and they are my superheroes and real celebrities who were capable of multi-tasking (juggling employment, house-wife responsibilities, extended family and friends) whilst ensuring my siblings and I had a regimented timetable outside of school where education was the priority.

They say life is all about being somewhere at the right place and at the right time. I however add it is about someone being willing to take a risk on you and that is what I received 12 years ago in August 2003. Straight out of university education with very little legal experience, one amazing lady Deborah Sharp gave me an opportunity to prove myself under her guidance and mentoring.
Today I am responsible in my current post for a team of litigators within my authority's legal team. My role is to represent and provide advice to the Council on matters affecting its Borough and its residents. I am passionate about my work and the people that I work with and work for.

My biggest achievement is one that I continue to build upon and that is having had a risk taken on me (Deborah Sharp, David Joy and Linda Fisher) and opportunities given to me, I continue to pay it forward and train individuals. As a result of this I have assisted colleagues attain their dream of becoming qualified solicitors, developing their legal skills and knowledge and giving hope where it had started to wane.

Self-appointed Advisor/ Mentor
Advise and assist individuals who I meet through work and outside of work, on developing themselves and progressing further. Identifying opportunities and removing the concept of their being a "glass ceiling". Always happy to assist where I can.
